B.C. Rail North **withdrawn**
Do to unforeseen circumstances Trevor has withdrawn his layout from this years Northern Rails.
Owner: Trevor Sokolan
I’m modelling a portion of the north end of BC Rail in September 1989. The layout is proto freelance, with an emphasis on era accurate freight cars and motive power.
The portion modelled is from Tacheeda BC (reverse loop staging yard) to Septimus BC (hidden staging yard) with branch lines to Dawson Creek and Mackenzie BC.
Overall room dimensions are 26 feet by 36 feet, the layout is a multi deck design with a small helix and a “No Lex” design. Total number of decks is 4 with a minimum radius of 36".
Train length is around 25 cars for a mainline train, with train movement controlled by OCS clearance forms and radio comms with a dispatcher.
The maximum number of operators is set at 10, with each operator paired with another to cover one of 5 jobs on the railway. Less than 10 is ideal, for Northern Rails I’m limiting attendees to 5 as I do not want more strangers in my basement.
Control of trains is wireless DCC with ESU Mobile Control throttles. All locomotives are sound and momentum equipped.
Currently (January 2024) there is minimal scenery but I am working to finish installing the remainder of lighting, fascia, and painting of back drops.
